The Plot

The series follows the adventures of a village of Gauls as they resist Roman occupation in 50 BC. The resistance was made possible by a magic potion, concocted by their druid Panoramix (Getaflix in English translations). The potion gives whoever drinks it temporary superhuman strength.

The main characters of the series were Asterix and his friend, Obelix. Asterix was usually entrusted with the most important affairs of his village because of his shrewdness. Aiding him in his adventures was his rather fat and slower thinking friend, Obelix. Obelix had permanent superhuman strength because he fell into the druid's cauldron of potion when he was a baby.

Most stories revolved around the adventures of these two characters both within the village and in foreign countries.
